about

Deepa Mahajan is a multimedia artist whose work explores the intangible territory of the mind and how thoughts and emotions shape inner experience. Her practice centers on the mind’s unresolved areas including inner conflict, worrying thought patterns and emotional states. Through collage, drawing, objects and installation she translates this unresolved inner space into material, form and space. She offers no direct answers but instead makes observations, highlights findings and raises broader concerns.

Her work has been at venues such as Memor Museum (New York City), 621 Gallery (Florida), Chemould Prescott Road (Mumbai), Grants Pass Museum of Art (Oregon), The Multicultural Heritage Centre (Canada), Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts (Omaha), and the Dayton Society of Artists (Ohio) among others. She was a finalist for the Sovereign Asian Art Prize and was selected for Santorini Biennale in Greece. She has also received an artist merit grant to attend the Vermont Studio Center residency. Her work has been reviewed by publications including the Free Press Journal, HT and The Straits Times (Singapore).
