The juxtaposition of organic and geometric shapes adds to the narrative of mental conflict depicted in the work. The personal situation of choosing between nations generates a push-pull of thoughts and feelings of safety and freedom in one, ancestry and disconnect in the other. The narrative comprises a dual symbol of a cocoon and a family-tree with crisscrossing bloodlines, alongside skin rash images to suggest vulnerability.
