My aim is to unite contrasting shapes into a unified whole. I started with an existing paper collage in which the idea of mental conflict is portrayed through personal story. In the collage the overlap of competing materials, frail and heavy, on rectangular areas create the opposition. I made prints of this collage, and each print is cut into geometric shapes which I arranged randomly with the intention of evoking push-pull between objects on the wall against an organic shape. The organic shape reflects the flowy, fluid mental realm. In the later experiments, the image on the fragments is transferred onto plaster using transfer gel. The 3D objects are arranged against various strained shapes.
